The 7th National Convention of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction Philippine Student Teachers’ Network (WCCI-PSTN) was held at Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center, Miriam College, Quezon City on April 13, 2019. The convention was anchored on the theme “Promoting Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice through Global Citizenship Education.”

Participated in by WCCI Philippines member schools, the convention aimed to provide a forum for future educators, researchers, policy makers, technocrats, and professionals to update and share on the impact and implications of global citizenship education in promoting social equity, economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability; to discuss the best practices and future collaborative projects on 21st century learning and innovations, global issues and solutions and a wide array of advocacies; to embark on relevant and sustainable action plans for the various WCCI special interest groups (SIG); and to establish network among the delegates.

In her keynote speech, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC, (President, WCCI Philippine Chapter) expounded the theme of the convention. She reiterated, “In today’s globalized world where there are diverse learners, education must inculcate respect and tolerance of the uniqueness as well as differences of peoples and cultures.”

Dr. Carolina P. Danao, Co-Convenor WCCI-PSTN gave a talk on the WCCI and Global Citizenship Goals of the PSTN. Dr. Teresita P. Pedrajas, Convenor WCCI-PSTN oriented the participants on the 12 Special Interest Groups (SIG): Global Citizenship Education, Community Development, Environmental Sustainability, Peace Education, Human Rights, Gender Empowerment, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Information Technology Literacy, Teacher Education, Values Education and Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. In addition to concurrent sessions for SIGs, sharing of best practices and induction of new members were also held.
