On November 5, 2020, the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI) celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The commemoration was held with members and educators across all continents participating virtually. Dr. Swee-Hin Toh (President, WCCI) led the celebration, performances, and tribute to the leaders of WCCI.



    The program began with a Multi-Faith Prayer followed by a video presentation which trailed WCCI’s journey through its golden anniversary. Capping the preliminaries were the reflections shared by Amb. Anwarul Chowdhury (Former Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of the United Nations) and Betty Reardon, (Founder, International institute on Peace Education).

    Testimonies to WCCI’s engagement and development through the years were given by its early members, leaders, and Conference Directors, while Former Presidents, Life Members, Executive Board Members for 2019-2022, and the members of the Secretariat were recognized. The programs and activities of WCCI-Philippines Chapter were also presented. Integrated in the program were also the Reflections of Youth on the Vision and Future Directions of WCCI by student -members.



    The 50th Anniversary Celebration was highlighted by the Tribute in Honor of Dr. Estela Matriano on her retirement as Executive Director of WCCI after serving the organization from 1993-2020.

    Virtual artistic performances (songs and dances) provided delight in the celebration. The program was capped by the thanksgiving remarks of Dr. Swee-Hin Toh (President, WCCI).
